UK funny man, Jimmy Carr, will be bringing his Terribly Funny tour to Dubai for two nights on August 13 and 14 with both shows at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The English comedian is one of the scene’s biggest stars, with several Netflix specials and world tours to his name. He’s a very, very, very funny man blessed with a quick wit and an easy connection to the audience. Plus, who can forget that utterly unique laugh we all know and love to laugh at.
The comedy industry along with the wider events industry has been one of the hardest hit due to the Coronavirus. When asked about his lockdown experience Carr said, “It has been a little bit of a challenge. Sitting around doing nothing is what comedians do every day – we work two hours. Maximum. So the sitting around not doing much has been pretty easy to adjust to. But the lack of gigs was kinda hard.
I suppose a lot of people have realised this over the lockdown: just how much you love your job. If you work in an office, you enjoy the social life, seeing other people. And that’s part of the reason why I’m so happy to these gigs in as it feels like the end of this purgatory.”
One his upcoming dates in Dubai, Carr added, “Terribly Funny is a large tour, maybe about 400, 500 date tour. It started last May so it’s a pretty well-oiled machine, but there’ll be a lot of new material going into it. A lot of new material that you won’t have seen before.
It’s me. People know what to expect. You’ve seen me on Youtube or Netflix. You know what kind of jokes I do, what I’m about. It’s more of the same.
But I actually think I’m getting better. Because you’re growing up in the public eye as a comedian, I look back at my earlier stuff and I can think ‘I like it, but I’m funnier than that now.”
The show is brought to you by Dubai Summer Surprises and DXBLaughs and Produced by Done Events.
