Local event venue, Warehouse Four, will play host to the first Dubai Motorcycle Film Festival (DMFF) this coming February.
The film festival is the only event of its kind exclusively dedicated to screening movies focused on motorcycles as well as the amazing culture and camaraderie of the motorcycling community.
Scheduled to take place over three days, 25-27 February 2021, DMFF will screen the best dramatic, documentary and short films films that reveal the passion of riders and the soul behind riding motorcycles.
“The last five years or so has seen the popularity of motorcycling skyrocket.” Said Ian Carless, Festival Director, DMFF and Partner at Warehouse Four. “More people than ever are taking to two wheels which has resulted in a huge variety of motorcycle inspired video content. We’re delighted to be able to showcase some of the best content from around the world at DMFF.”
Over thirty motorcycle themed films from around the world will be screened at this year’s DMFF event. The films range from bike builds, to short character driven films to full length documentaries. Whilst a significant number of films have been curated specially, the festival is also open to members of the biking and filmmaking community to submit their films for consideration.
“Receiving entries from the public is a big part of DMFF, specifically short films. We see this as the best way to encourage bikers and existing filmmakers to pick up their camera and make a video. They have stories to tell about their local bike scene which are unique.” Said Ian Carless.
The festival is being organized by Warehouse Four, one of Dubai’s most well-known independent event venues. Supporting the event as title sponsor is Honda Motorcycles UAE.
“The motorcycle community in the UAE has grown tremendously over recent years, of which Honda has always been at the forefront. So, once we learned about the Dubai Motorcycle Film Festival we immediately wanted to get involved. Motorcycling the world over is all about community spirit and what better way to capture that than through film. We can’t wait to see what’s in store at DMFF.” Said Rhett Maxwell – General Manager, Honda UAE, Trading Enterprise.
“We’re super excited to partner with Honda Motorcycles as the headline sponsor for the inaugural Dubai Motorcycle Film Festival.” Said Ian Carless. “It’s great to find a like-minded partner who’s willing to help build an event from the outset. 2020 was extremely tough on the event community, so we’re delighted to have Honda on board.”
DMFF will be awarding a select number of awards to participating films in the following categories: Best Dubai Film, Best Overall Film, Best Documentary, Best Short Film (under 15 mins), Best Short Film (over 15 mins), Viewers Choice Award. The Viewers Choice Award will be based on audience votes.
DMFF also hopes to include post-film Q&As, audience awards, a festival kick off party as well as other activities, pending relevant Covid-19 restrictions at the time of the event.
