Informa Middle East, organizers of the Middle East Event Show which has been re-scheduled in October, have announced a webinar panel focusing on the impact of the Coronavirus on the event and entertainment industry.

Entitled ‘The Cost of COVID: Supporting the Event Industry & Evaluating Long-term Implications of the Pandemic’, the webinar will feature several event professionals, key decsision makers etc, from a number of event companies here the Middle East.

The webinar will take place on Tuesday 5th May at 12 noon.

About the webinar:

With the majority of face to face events either cancelled or postponed, where does that leave the event industry and how can leadership help to keep employees motivated and productive?

This webinar aims to look at the long-term effects of the crisis, explore the initiatives in place to help the industry and provide and interactive discussion on what the future of the event industry may look like.

Name: Naji El Haddad (Moderator)

Title: Regional Manager, MEA, UFI

Bio: Over his 14 years career, Naji has built a very strong industry knowledge in the exhibitions, summits and sustainability industries leading one of the largest sustainability summit & expo in the MENA region.

Part of his role, Naji has curated a number of strategic partnerships with private and public sector organizations including World Bank, European Commission, UNDP, UNIDO, Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry in Japan (METI), Ministry of Energy in India, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), World Energy Congress, Total, Standard Chartered Bank, among many others.

Naji currently takes on the role of Regional Manager for UFI, the Global Association for the Exhibition Industry, in the Middle East & Africa region – in addition to being an independent event consultant.

Name: Marc Jones

Title: General Manager, Events & Marketing, Plan b

Bio: Classically trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Marc spent 15 years working internationally in the Hospitality and Entertainment industries before moving to the Middle East in 2008 to make the UAE his home. As GM of Events and Marketing for the Plan b Group, and having the opportunity to collaborate and work on major globally recognized promotions and events, Marc’s innovative and energetic approach has resulted in the delivery and execution of multi award-winning projects.

His notable credits in the region include Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria, The Hot 100 (2011-2015), Tiki Cirque feat Dynamo, Dubai International Motor Show, Masala Awards, Esquire Man At His Best, Dubai Rugby 7’s, Dubai Women’s Run and numerous corporate and community activations.

Bio: Wilbert Heijmans is Managing Director of the Info Salons Group, a leading global player of data technology in business events with operations in MENA and APAC with offices in Sydney, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Dubai. Info Salons is a Freeman company. Prior to the current role Wilbert was the MD for Info Salons MENA region since 2012.

Before Info Salons Wilbert was an event organiser working for Jaarbeurs in The Netherlands and China, and Deutsche Messe and Messe Frankfurt as Group Exhibitions Director in Dubai.
